Our Students Can’t Benefit From Radio Lessons, Gombe Deaf Association Cry Out

by Inclusive News Network

The Gombe State Association of the Deaf has lamented that their members will be sidelined from the arrangements currently been made by the Gombe State Ministry of Education to begin lesson on radio stations for SS1,SS2, and SS3 students of the state.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Association Mr. Musa Jauro and made available to Inclusive News Network (INN), the association lamented that such programme did not take deaf students into consideration.

“If this policy can be actualized, then what of people with difficulty in hearing or the deaf that can’t hear, studying at Special Education Centre Gombe? Isn’t this sidelining the deaf in the process?”

Also reacting to the development, Publicity Secretary of the Association, Comrade Yusuf Kumo said “although this is a welcome development, unfortunately our Deaf Students will be excluded because they can’t hear from the radio. What about them? he queried.

Inclusive News Network reports that the radio lessons have commenced on Monday with English language for SS1 to SS3 starting from 7:30am to 2pm. This is according to a timetable released by Minister of education in Gombe state.
