AIbrahim Abubakar, physically challenged, has entered the history books by breaking a 17-year-old record in the department of Islamic Education, Gombe State University by graduating with first class honours.

Ibrahim earned 4.51 CGPA in a 5.0 grading system to emerge the first student ever to graduate with a first class in Islamic Education.

Since its establishment in 2004, the department of Islamic Education of Gombe State University had not produced a first-class graduand. Set after set top performing graduates only occasionally managed to graduate with second-class-upper – a grading considered great achievement.

The trend however changed with the recent graduation of whiz kid, Ibrahim Abubakar of the department of Islamic Education with a First-Class degree.

Ibrahim had a Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of 4.51.
He not only set a new record, he was also the overall best graduating student in the whole faculty of education 2020/2021 academic session.

Ibrahim was motivated to go for the record because his course mates and seniors had said it is impossible to have a first-class in Islamic Education. He took up the challenge and proved the nay sayers wrong.

Earlier, Ibrahim had received Best Teacher of the Year Award in 2017, Overall Best Graduating student award in 2018, Best Tutor of the Year Award and also Best Graduating Muslim Student Award in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

He heaped praises on one of his lecturers identified as Mr. Ibrahim Bello. According to him, Bello, as mentor was very pivotal to his academic success.
