Gombe Deaf Varsity Students Query Non Appointment Of Members In Association

The Gombe State University Students Association have lamented the non-inclusion of it’s members in the recent appointments made by the National President of Gombe State Students Association, National Secretariat, Comr Aliyu Sa’ad.

Pioneer President of the Gombe State University Deaf Association, Activist Yusuf Kumo in a statement obtained by INN, said Comr Sa’ad had appointed more than 20 Aides which comprise of Special Advisers/ Special Assistants on Sports, Political, Campus Affairs.

Kumo said it was however unfortunate that no provision was made for the appointment of a Special Adviser Disabled Students Affairs.

Kumo, who disclosed that he saw the appointments posted on the President’s Facebook page congratulated the appointees, however expressing his reservations on behalf of his Association.

“I wish them all the best in discharging their official responsibilities under your leadership. But Mr President, I’m sure you are aware that we have Deaf and Disabled students studying in various higher tertiary institutions right? It’s unfortunately that they are not fully represented in GOSSA and there is nothing like SA disabled students.

“I’m urging you to adopt inclusive governance by including Deaf and disabled students in all your appointments, policies and programs… I hope you will consider this plea ? Thank you,” Kumo wrote in his response to the post.
