Gbajabiamila Gives Palliatives To IDPs ‌

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has expressed the determination of the government to address the various challenges facing Internally Displaced Persona in Nigeria.

Speaking during his outreach programme at the Durumi and Kuchingoro IDP camps in Abuja on Thursday, where he donated food and sanitary items to the refugees, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi.

He said efforts would be made to ensure that every Nigerian that had suffered the misfortune of being forced to flee their homes would be encouraged to return to productive livelihood.

The Speaker, who was represented by his Special Assistant on IDPs, Hamzat Baba, donated over 300 bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil and noodles, packs of sanitisers, bags of face masks, among other items.

In his response, the coordinator/spokesman for Abuja-based IDPs, Idris Halidu, commended the Speaker, noting that Gbajabiamila was the first lawmaker to remember IDPs in Abuja since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
