Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed that he once accepted money to pretend to have a physical disability during a staged church miracle service while he was still a student.
Solade made the disclosure during an interview with Feel Right News TV, where he recalled an incident from his early years, long before he became a recognised actor.
According to the actor, he was recruited to portray a person with a physical disability during the service and was paid for his participation.
“I have been used for a miracle then, when I was not popular. I acted as a cripple, they paid, I used the money to drink, then I was a student,” Solade said.
He explained that the incident occurred at a time when he had not yet established a career in Nollywood and that his participation was motivated by the payment he received.
Solade, however, did not disclose the name of the church or identify the individuals who allegedly organised the staged miracle.
He also declined to mention the identities of those involved, explaining that they were still alive.
“The people involved are still alive; I just don’t want to mention names,” he said.
The actor’s revelation has drawn attention to allegations of staged miracles in some religious settings, particularly claims that individuals may be recruited to create the appearance of supernatural healings.
However, Solade’s comments were based on his personal account of an incident he said he participated in as a student. He did not identify the church, clergy or other individuals allegedly involved in the incident.
