Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has donated two mini-buses, two motorcycles, and 25 wheelchairs to the Therapy Centre for Children with Disabilities in Ado Ekiti.
The donation, made during a visit to the Centre with Governor Biodun Oyebanji, reflects Bamidele’s support for the governor’s commitment to the welfare of children with special needs in Ekiti State. The items were received by Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion.
Bamidele commended the state government for establishing the Centre, describing it as the first state-owned facility of its kind in Nigeria. He pledged to make the construction of a larger, more accommodating facility his top constituency project for 2026.
“With a budget of N1.5 billion, we will commence construction next year,” Bamidele said. “Until then, we will ensure proper maintenance of the current structure and seek corporate support for upgrades.”
Governor Oyebanji highlighted the need for expansion, noting that although 70 children are enrolled, limited space means they attend therapy in shifts. He appealed to Bamidele to help facilitate a larger structure to meet growing demand.
Princess Agboola explained that the Centre caters to children with conditions like cerebral palsy and autism—those who cannot attend traditional schools due to the severity of their disabilities. She praised both the governor and Bamidele for their continued support, saying the new vehicles and wheelchairs would significantly improve service delivery.
