Katsina — In a continued push for inclusivity, Umar Jibril Bindawa, Special Assistant to the Katsina State Governor on Disability Matters, has visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen collaboration in promoting the rights and safety of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.

During the visit on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Bindawa held a strategic meeting with senior NSCDC officials to discuss ways the Corps can support efforts aimed at empowering PWDs through employment opportunities and protection. He specifically advocated for the allocation of a 5% recruitment quota for PWDs within the NSCDC in Katsina, a move he said would foster equal opportunities and boost representation in the security sector.

The Special Assistant also emphasized the importance of enhancing safety measures for PWDs, underscoring the need to create a secure and inclusive environment where individuals with disabilities can live without fear of discrimination or marginalization.

In appreciation of the NSCDC’s service to the nation, Bindawa presented an Award of Excellence to the Corps Commander, recognizing the agency’s dedication to peace, security, and the protection of lives and property in Katsina State.

“This visit underscores Katsina State’s commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities in line with national and international frameworks,” Bindawa stated. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the NSCDC to ensure our security agencies are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of all citizens.”

The NSCDC Commander, Ahmad Datti Ahmed, while receiving the award, expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to supporting the state’s drive toward inclusive security and protection for all residents, including PWDs.
