Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Hon. Saleh Barde has assured that the commission under his watch will witness steady improvements on the lives of persons with disabilities.

He noted that the rights of persons with disabilities in the state will be protected and prioritized and further enhance their productivity through education and empowerment.

He gave the assurance in a report published by Nasarawa Newsline as he assumed office in Lafia on Thursday.

Hon. Barde pointed out that the mandate of the Commission was to give every citizen of the state living with disability a sense of belonging and promote adherence to disability rights and privileges. He tasked CSOs and NGOs to work collaboratively and assiduously with the Commission towards the realization of the goals and aspirations of PWDs in protecting their rights in all activities.

The recently sworn-in Disability Rights Commission boss promised the people of the state of a more people-oriented leadership that caters for the social and economic well-being of its citizens with disabilities, lauding Governor Abdullahi Sule for giving them the opportunity to reposition the affairs of the disability community in the state.

Hon. Saleh Barde vowed to integrate the PWDs in repositioning the Disability Rights Commission to meet up with their present and future needs.

Governor Abdullahi Sule had earlier appointed Hon. Sale Barde as Executive Chairman and four others as members of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission and were subsequently screened and inaugurated by the Governor.
