The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has called on Local Government (LG) chairmen and stakeholders to adopt inclusive policies and empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) in their communities.
Hon. Abba Isa made the call during a tricycle distribution event organized by the North East Youth Initiative Forum (NEYIF). The initiative, held in Jakusko Local Government Area of Yobe State, focused on improving mobility and inclusion for girls with disabilities.
Speaking on his behalf, Haruna Tata, Yobe State Special Assistant on New Media (North East), emphasized the need to create enabling environments that support the full participation of PWDs in society.
Commending NEYIF’s commitment to inclusion, Hon. Abba Isa highlighted the group’s efforts to uplift vulnerable groups, particularly girls with disabilities.
In a related development, Governor Mai Mala Buni recently distributed over 500 tricycles to PWDs across Yobe State’s 17 local government areas to facilitate their access to education—an initiative in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for inclusive governance.
The Chairman of Jakusko LGA expressed appreciation to Hon. Abba Isa for his dedication to vulnerable populations and for appointing Haruna Tata to his team. He pledged continued support for initiatives promoting the rights and empowerment of PWDs.
The event underscored the increasing recognition of the need for inclusive governance at the grassroots level and the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure equal opportunities for all citizens.
