The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, said millions of children with disabilities in Africa still face barriers to quality education.
He said this while emphasizing on the importance of integrating inclusive basic education perspectives into the African development agenda at the Guanella Africa Summit, held at the prestigious University of Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria.
Speaking, the presidential aide on disability highlighted the need for tangible actions to break down barriers hindering access and participation, advocating for investment in infrastructure, teacher training, and support services.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advocating for the rights and inclusion of all members of society, particularly those with special needs, under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, “despite progress made, millions of children with disabilities in Africa still face barriers to quality education, necessitating strong partnerships and collaborations to create opportunities for their advancement.”
He said “prioritizing policy reforms and resource allocation for inclusive education are crucial steps in addressing these challenges effectively.”
While expressing sincere gratitude to the Congregation of the Servants of Charity (Opera Don Guanella) in Africa and the University of Ibadan for organizing this vital event, the SSA on disability assured of his partnership and commitment to their mission, confident that together, they will overcome challenges and make society a better place for all.
