The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development and the empowerment of persons with disabilities through its 2026 Disability Financial Support Programme held on Monday at the agency’s premises in Lagos.

Speaking during the programme themed “Financial Support for International Days 2026,” the General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, welcomed representatives of disability homes and cluster groups and commended their continued dedication to disability advocacy in the state. She reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities through inclusive policies and interventions.

According to her, the financial support initiative is an annual intervention designed to strengthen disability organizations and sustain advocacy and awareness programmes across Lagos State. She disclosed that the state government has increased financial allocations to the disability community as part of its inclusive governance agenda and urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively for the growth and proper functioning of their organizations.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal also applauded the contributions and cooperation of various disability cluster groups, especially the Albinism community, while assuring stakeholders of LASODA’s continued partnership and accessibility through different communication channels. She added that the programme would support about 20 disability communities and homes in Lagos State ahead of the 2026 International Day of Persons with Disabilities and other advocacy activities aimed at promoting inclusion, awareness, and unity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Albinism Association in Lagos State, Tolani Ojuri, appreciated the Lagos State Government and LASODA for their consistent support to the disability community. He noted that LASODA’s awareness campaigns and interventions have helped address challenges such as skin cancer among persons with albinism and commended the agency for its continued collaboration and financial assistance toward improving the wellbeing of persons with disabilities in the state.
