by Inclusive News Network

Lagos State Government has said that it will always identify and make disability inclusion a priority in government planning and policies.

General Manager, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Oluwadamilare Ogundairo, gave the promise during the 60th anniversary of Pacelli School of the Blind in Lagos, saying that the state government is passionate about how institutions like Pacelli can be better strengthened and also doing more for people with visual impairment in the society.

Meanwhile, the Principal of the school, Jane Onyeneri, said for the past 60 years, the school had trained men and women living with great impact on the society in various fields both at home and abroad.

She said: “To every child who is a student of this great school, I want to celebrate you as you gain the privilege to be part of this 60th anniversary. I encourage you to work hard and believe in yourself. Let this be your watchword, “disability is not inability.”

She commended the parents, teachers and members of staff of the special children’s school for not giving up on them, urging them not to give up because they can fly when they have a shoulder like theirs to rest on.
