The Jigawa State Association of People with Disability (PWDs) said the association would support only governorship candidate that shows commitment and assurance to members’ welfare and wellbeing.
This statement was made by the group’s zonal national vice chairman in charge of northwest, Comrade Muhammad Usman who doubles as the Chairman of Danmodi Disability Movement for Inclusive Democracy.
In his speech delivered at a meeting with the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, Usman said “we are ready to support any candidate of the political party that shows us commitment and assurance to our welfare and wellbeing”.
Mr. Usman used the occassion to thank the Jigawa state deputy governor for recognizing them and attach importance to their travails and inviting them to the very important one on one roundtable discussion.
The zonal vice chairman appealed to the APC flag bearer to continue with the good policies and programmes for people with disability, such as the policies on monthly social security, free education for PWDs and their children etc.
He further reaffirmed the association’s unalloyed loyalty and support to Jigawa state government at all time and promised to support any developmental plans and projects executed by Jigawa state government.
On his part, the Jigawa state All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate and deputy governor, Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on PWDs, Comrade Habibu Murtala Taura, called on People with Disability to continue to pray for peace and harmony for the country as we witness a transitional development.
Danmodi noted that succor awaits persons with disabilities as new policies and programmes that will improve their fortunes will be unveiled by the administration he heads if elected into office as governor of Jigawa state in the forthcoming general elections.
He also called on persons with disabilities to continue to support the policies of the incumbent government.
His words, “please support and votes APC in the forthcoming governorship and state Assembly elections for continuity with the good policies and programmes.”
