The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University (GSU), Professor Sani Yauta, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ishiyaku Adamu of the Department of Political Science on his recent appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Disability Commission.
This commendation was made public in a statement issued on Monday, signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor himself.
In his message, Professor Yauta remarked, “Dr. Adamu’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his steadfast commitment, exceptional competence, and the trust placed in him by His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON.”
He further highlighted the significance of the Disability Protection Bill 2024 and the establishment of the Gombe State Disability Commission, describing them as progressive milestones that resonate with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
“As the most disability-friendly university in Northeastern Nigeria, with over 150 students and staff with disabilities, GSU remains committed to fostering inclusion and accessibility. This appointment is a testament to our shared mission of advocating for the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities,” Yauta added.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor also expressed profound gratitude to Governor Yahaya for his visionary leadership and for entrusting a member of the GSU community with such a significant responsibility. “This appointment underscores the quality of professionals GSU continues to produce,” he noted.
