Governor Inuwa Yahaya Appoints Board Members for Gombe Disability Commission

by Sejoro Ekundayo

In a move to strengthen disability rights and inclusion in Gombe State, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of board members for the recently established Disability Commission.

According to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, these appointments follow the Governor’s earlier approval of the Commission’s Chairman on December 24, 2024.

“As the state prioritizes inclusive governance, the Governor envisions the board as a driving force in making the Commission more effective and responsive to the needs of persons with disabilities in Gombe,” Prof. Njodi stated.

The newly appointed board consists of representatives from all three senatorial districts:

Gombe North: Muhammad Salisu Abubakar, Fatima Sani Yakubu

Gombe Central: Bala Jibrin Kwali, Yusuf Yahaya

Gombe South: Rebecca Hassan, Alheri Nuhu

Additionally, key government stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Justice, Women Affairs, and Youth Development, will serve on the board.

To further promote gender inclusivity, three female representatives have also been appointed: Rabi Bello (Gombe South), Halima Isah (Gombe Central), and Hindatu Mohammed Nura (Gombe North).

This strategic move underscores the state’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring their full participation in governance and development initiatives
