The Chairman, Gombe State Fiscal Responsibility Commission in person of Dr.Abubakar Inuwa Tata and his team had visited all private media stations in the state which include: Vision FM, Amana Radio, Ray-power FM and Progress Radio. During the visit, the Chairman reiterate the pivotal role of media organizations in educating, enlightening and entertaining the populace.
He also provided insight into the commission’s principal responsibilities and functions and its power to compel any person or government institutions to disclose information relating to public revenues and expenditure and investigate whether any person has violated any provisions of the fiscal responsibility law.
Mr Tata presented copies of the fiscal responsibility law and the commission’s maiden publication tagged “Understanding Gombe State 2020 Budget of Change – What the citizens need to know” which was published late last year to the media houses and urge them to partner with the Commission to ensure that resources mobilized are properly spent and accounted for.
On their part, the media houses promised to collaborate and support the commission in disseminating the commission’s principal object to the public to ensure that the citizens are well informed of Governor Inuwa Yahaya strategic policy priorities and how they can report any irregularities that may undermine the achievement of these objectives.
You may wish to recall that, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has vowed to ensure fiscal transparency, accountability and probity in the conduct of Government business under his watch and will spare no one who intend to undermine his administration’s effort in spreading the dividend of democracy across the eleven (11) local government areas of the state he added.
