Badagry, Nigeria – The newly appointed Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV), Badagry, Prof. Samuel Oladiipo Kolawole (FNITI), has assured that the institution is committed to establishing a disability desk while reaffirming its dedication to inclusivity and accessibility for persons with disabilities.
Speaking during a familiarization visit by the Association of Persons with Disabilities, Badagry Chapter (APWD), and the Badagry Deaf Association (BDA), Prof. Kolawole expressed appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing that the institution upholds equality and does not discriminate against anyone.
“As an individual and as an institution, we consider everyone equal. We do not discriminate against anyone because each person has their own unique strengths. We appreciate you and see you as one of us—our friends, our brothers, and our family,” he stated.
Prof. Kolawole reiterated the institution’s belief in the abilities of persons with disabilities, stressing that they have much to contribute to society.
“There is always ability in disability,” he emphasized, urging persons with disabilities to continue playing active roles in societal development.
On the issue of accessibility, the Director assured that the institution is committed to providing necessary facilities such as ramps to ensure ease of movement for wheelchair users. He cited past instances where accessibility structures were incorporated into new faculty buildings and pledged that similar measures would be taken wherever necessary.
Furthermore, he reassured that the French Language Village recognizes and supports empowerment initiatives for persons with disabilities.
“We do not see persons with disabilities as incapable. Rather, we acknowledge their abilities and will continue to support inclusion in all aspects of our institution,” he affirmed.
Prof. Kolawole emphasized that inclusion is not just a policy but a core value of the French Language Village, adding that the institution remains committed to creating an environment where everyone has equal opportunities to learn and thrive.

APWD Chairman Calls for Enhanced Accessibility Measures
Earlier, Comrade Sejoro Ekundayo Peter, the Chairman of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, Badagry Chapter, called for the establishment of a disability desk at the institution to ensure PWDs receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.
Ekundayo also Chairman of Badagry Deaf Association, urged the institution to construct ramps in key buildings, including classrooms, offices, clinics, and halls. He noted that this initiative would significantly improve accessibility and create a more inclusive learning environment for PWDs.
Among other requests, he advocated for the inclusion of PWDs in institutional programs, increased support for upcoming events, and greater empowerment initiatives.
