Foundation restates commitment to development of disability sports

Adebisi Fabiyi Foundation has restated it’s commitment to the development of sports for persons with disabilities.

The foundation made the pledge in its 39th edition of hope games for the disabled organised and sponsored by the foundation in collaboration with Omu-Aran at the premises of the Kwara State School for Special Needs, Ilorin on November 11 and 12.

Speaking at the occasion, chairman of Adebisi Fabiyi Foundation, Rev. Dr. Elisha Adebisi Fabiyi said the foundation’s commitment to the development of disability sports is unwavering.

Fabiyi said, this year’s edition would had been in the 40th edition but for the disruption caused by Covid- 19 pandemic, the project having started in 1982 is in its 39th anniversary.

He emphasized “We look forward to the day when the Executive Governor will be personally present at the Games and get recognised as the first Executive Governor to attend the games”

He thanked all the supporters including the principals, and staff of the school and the school children who are the Principal players for their cooperation in ensuring the success of the event.

Earlier, Principal of the school, Hajia Fausat Oladunni Aroyehun noted that the Hope Games for the Disabled is an annual event being sponsored by Dr. E.A Fabiyi of Adebisi Fabiyi Foundation as far back as 40 years ago as part of his social responsibility to complement the effort of the government.

Fausat disclosed that the efforts put together by Pa. E.A Fabiyi to promote disability sports have produced many athletics that brought glory to both the State and the Nation.

“In the recently concluded Para Sport Festival held in Abuja, some of our students won medals” the principal recalled.

She urged her students to keep up the spirit of sportsmanship.

Fausat also appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his tremendous involvement in the affair of the school, provision of facilities/amenities, and enabling learning environment for the students

The event featured a football match between Kwara State School for Special Needs and Government Day Secondary School, Tepatan, inter-house athletics, among other sports.
