Yola, Nigeria — The Executive Director of the Rechard Bisane Foundation, Comrade Bitrus Richard, has commended the Adamawa State House of Assembly for its recent passage of the repealed Adamawa State Disability Rights Commission Law No. 14 of 2016. The move, he said, underscores the Assembly’s commitment to advancing disability inclusion across the state.
Comrade Richard praised the leadership of Rt. Hon. Batiya Wesley and his team for their role in pushing the legislation forward. He also singled out Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu, the member representing Mayo Belwa Constituency, for sponsoring the repealed law, describing his actions as both courageous and commendable.
He recalled that the original version of the law was first sponsored in 2016 by Rt. Hon. Sunday Peter, the member representing Guyuk Constituency. That bill was eventually signed into law by former Governor Mohammed Umar Jibrilla Bindo, laying the groundwork for institutional support for persons with disabilities in Adamawa State.
