The Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation has urged the Federal Government to make the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) a priority in all policy formulations and social intervention programmes.
Convener of the Foundation, Comrade Kehinde Oshilaja, made the call during an event held at Evans Square, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, on Thursday. The event attracted over 200 participants, including key community figures.
He noted that people living with disabilities continue to face economic and social challenges, and urged the government to introduce support mechanisms to ease their burdens.
Oshilaja also encouraged Muslims to uphold the values gained during Ramadan and advised Christians to continue practicing the lessons of Lent in their daily lives.
Highlighting the ongoing economic hardship in the country, he called on the government to reduce the pump price of petrol to N200 per litre, stressing that such a move would benefit the general populace.
Unlike previous editions of the event, which focused on palliative distribution, this year’s gathering aimed to raise awareness and mobilise support for PWDs. Oshilaja also encouraged philanthropists to offer assistance to vulnerable groups.
Notable attendees included Prince Tajudeen Olusi of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Alhaji Lateef Sodiq, and Sheik Rahman Jagi of the Al-Hudah Society of Nigeria.
