The Nigerian Bar Association Lawyers with Disabilities Forum (“NBA-LWDF”), has extended their warmest congratulations to Hon. In a statement jointly signed by Aisha Ahmad El-Rufai, Chairman, NBA-LWDF and Ikem Uchegbulan, Chairman Conference Planning Committee, the Forum described the appointment as a well-deserved appointment.

The Forum said that Hon. Abba Isa’s appointment is a proof of the recognition that championing both local and international advocacy for persons with disabilities over the years have drawn.

The Forum equally used the medium to invite the Presidential Aide as a Special Guest at its 27th Annual General Conference (AGC) and the commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, scheduled to hold on 6th December, 2023 by 9:00am at Pave Hotel and Suites, Plot 309, Anmadu Bello Way, Kado, Abuja.

The letter reads in part: “In view of the pivotal position that your office holds in the creation of opportunities for inclusion through the inculcation of PWDs requirements and perspectives in the policies and programmes of all Ministries, Department and Agencies of the Federal Government; it is our honour to cordially request your pleasure as a Special Guest at the 27 Annual General Conference (AGC) of our Forum and the commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, scheduled to hold on 6” December, 2023 by 9:00am at Pave Hotel and Suites, Plot 309, Anmadu Bello Way, Kado, Abuja.

“The NBA-LWDF is a Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association, constitutionally established with a mandate to empower lawyers with disabilities for success by identifying and providing innovative solutions to key issues that affect them through mechanisms like advocacy, mentorship, training workshops and conferences, primarily centered on providing answers to questions on issues of disability, leadership, personal development, career growth, work/life balance and related issues.

” In line with the above mandate, and in commemoration of this year’s International Day for Persons with Disabilities’ celebration, the NBA-LWDF will hold a one-day Conference with the theme “From Challenges to Triumphs: The Journey of Lawyers with Disabilities in Nigeria”.

“This theme is very apt as it will afford conferees the rare opportunity to x-ray the past with a view to setting the pace of a new legal practice anchored on the premise of diversity, equality, equity and innovation. Interestingly, the African Union Charter on Disabilities was recently signed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signaling an additional win for the Nigerian Disability community of which the Forum is a Sub-set.”
