Fish farmers want special movement permits

by Inclusive News Network

Catfish and Allied Fish Farmers Association of Nigeria (CAFFAN) wants the government to grant them a special permit to allow them to distribute their product across the country.

CAFFAN national president, Mr Rotimi Oloye, said the COVID-19-lockdown has hindered access to their farms.

“This is adding to the cost of production that is already on the high side due to the cost of exchange of naira to dollars used in importing more than 70 per cent of our inputs.”

As everyone is well aware, unless properly processed and preserved, fish has a very short shelf-life value, he said.

Oloye also advised the federal government to include processed homegrown catfish to the palliatives being shared.
