Passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and travellers who need mobility support will now enjoy smoother air travel, as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has introduced improved wheelchair services across airports nationwide.
Announcing the development on Monday, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, explained that the service is designed to uphold dignity, comfort, and safety for all travellers.
With the new initiative, passengers can request wheelchair assistance from check-in through boarding, and even upon arrival. Specially trained staff will also be on hand to guide passengers, while priority will be given during security checks and boarding.
To further ease movement, FAAN has provided accessible facilities such as elevators and restrooms in airport terminals.
Mrs. Orah encouraged passengers in need of the service to notify their airline ahead of time or make a request at the special assistance desk on arrival.
