The Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to advancing the rights and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the state.
At a recent event in Lafia hosted by Cedar Seed Foundation, a youth-driven non-profit organization, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Saleh Barde Keana, declared that the NSDRC is fully focused on ensuring full compliance with disability rights laws in all public institutions.
Mr. Keana, who served as the special guest of honour, addressed an enthusiastic audience of PWDs and stakeholders, encouraging open dialogue about the barriers PWDs face in social, educational, and political life.
“The Commission has issued a two-year deadline for public institutions to comply with disability rights legislation. Those who fail to act will face legal consequences,” he cautioned.
His declaration to always put the needs of PWDs before his own drew applause from attendees, highlighting the passion and trust placed in his leadership.
He praised Cedar Seed Foundation for facilitating the programme and creating a safe space for voices within the disability community to be heard. He also applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for consistently prioritizing inclusion and showing strong leadership in supporting the rights of PWDs in the state.
“The governor’s commitment has laid a strong foundation for an inclusive Nasarawa,” Mr. Keana noted.
He concluded by pledging continued collaboration with stakeholders to promote empowerment and inclusive development, ensuring that no one is left behind.
