The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, led her management team on Monday, April 29, 2025, to receive the Procurement Process Review Committee. During the engagement, she assured the committee of LASODA’s strict adherence to procurement regulations.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal emphasized that all government funds will be utilized judiciously, in line with procurement laws. She stressed that only contractors duly registered with the state government would be engaged. Highlighting the importance of inclusivity, she urged the committee to uphold its commitment to creating an inclusive procurement system that embraces accessibility and equity. According to her, integrating these principles not only fosters transparency but also allows everyone, including persons with disabilities, to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
In his response, the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, underscored the importance of value for money in all government transactions. He noted that following due process ensures transparency, accountability, and cost-effectiveness in project implementation.
Mr. Onafowote further pledged the government’s support for disability-inclusive procurement practices. He tasked the Director of Finance and Accounts with ensuring that all statutory deductions are made on awarded contracts to enable accurate financial tracking and reporting. He also commended LASODA’s Director of Procurement, Mr. Yomi Oluniyi, for organizing the sensitization and promoting compliance with the Special People’s Law and PWD inclusion efforts.
