Cost of Living: Access Bank Donates Food Items, Medicine to Disability Community in Gombe

As part of its efforts towards cushioning the negative effect of the current economic hardships affecting vulnerable groups in Gombe state, Access Bank Gombe Branch has donated relief items to persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups.

Relief items such as assorted food stuff and medicines were distributed to 500 persons with disabilities cutting across various clusters of PWDs who were selected from different local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the outreach, the Joint National Association Persons Disabilities (JONAPWD) Gombe State chapter, Chairman, Dr Ishiyaku Adamu, said 500 PWDs were beneficiaries of the gesture.

He said, “We are here to witness the food giveaway and medical outreach for 500 persons with disabilities in Gombe State supported by Access Bank. The team of medical experts are here to carry out series of tests freely and beneficiaries are tested on various health issues such as HIV, hepatitis, typhoid, malaria, glucose level and so on. We are also giving out food packages which include rice, beans and garri.

Commenting on the donation, Adamu added, “this will go a long way to ease the situation felt by members. We thank Access Bank and we expect other private sector players to extend same generosity to Persons With Disabilities.”

On his part, the APC Disabled Leader, Mr. Abdulsalam Mohammed expressed immense gratitude to the state government under the leadership of Governor Alh Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for running an inclusive administration and giving them a sense of belonging.

He urged the entire PWDs to show gratitude to the Governor for his good gesture towards them.

Meanwhile the JONAPWD Gombe chapter, Secretary General, Mal. Babangida Yahaya Kundullum, used the occasion to commend the donors, adding that “the food items will help us in this post Ramadan period.”
