by Inclusive News Network

In a commendable display of recognition and inclusivity, the Bauchi State Ministry of Education has awarded cash gifts to students with disabilities who represented the state at a recent national competition held in Nasarawa State.

During a brief but heartfelt ceremony, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Hassan Baba Misau—who stood in for the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimi Zayam—described the gesture as a deliberate effort to motivate and celebrate excellence among students with disabilities.

“Appreciating and encouraging our students is a critical element of quality education. For students with disabilities, it is even more significant,” Misau said. “This token is more than a reward; it is our way of saying: we see you, we value you, and we are proud of you.”

He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Governor Bala Mohammed, praising the administration’s sustained commitment to inclusive education and the welfare of students with special needs.

In her remarks, the Principal of the Special Education Centre in Yelwa, Jamila Salisu Garba, expressed profound gratitude to the Ministry and the state government.

“This gesture means a great deal to our students and our entire school community. We feel seen, valued, and carried along, and we sincerely appreciate that,” she said.
