A member representing Dass Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi has disbursed 100 tricycle-wheelchairs to persons with disability in his constituents in an effort to mitigate suffering faced by persons with physical disability.
The wheelchairs were donated to him by the Beautiful Gate handicapped People Centre Jos.
Speaking during the disbursement ceremony which took place at Emir place in Dass Local Government Area on Sunday, the lawmaker said that people with disability face numerous challenges in their lives especially for the fact that most of them are from poor families and as a result, many of them are not in school or engage in trades and businesses because of the condition they found themselves.
“i will do everything possible to support the education and empowerment of persons with disabilities so that some of them can engage in trades, artisanship and other businesses in order to earn a living rather than engage in begging” The lawmaker said.
In his remark, The Emir of Dass Alh Bilyaminu Othman expressed his gratitude to the lawmaker and Beautiful Gate Handicapped people’s centre Jos for this privilege and huge donation, saying they gave a huge donation without political, religion or regional consideration, urging the beneficiaries to use the donation to improve their livelihood and engage in economic activities in order to help them in daily survival amid economy dilemma.
The chairman of the group, Danjuma Manya who spoke during the occasion expressed their happiness and gratitude to Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi and the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre Jos for the donation which they say will improve their livelihood.
