Students from the Special Education Centre, Bauchi, have emerged as the overall winners at the Bauchi State 2026 Girls in ICT Demo Day, a competition that celebrated innovation, resilience, and determination among young girls in technology.
The event, organized to promote digital skills, creativity, and innovation, showcased a range of technological solutions developed by participants. It also highlighted the dedication of the girls, many of whom balanced academic responsibilities, tight schedules, and limited resources to successfully bring their ideas to life.
Participants demonstrated remarkable teamwork and perseverance throughout the competition, often working late hours to refine their projects while supporting one another despite various challenges.
Team Hand That Speaks secured first position with an innovative solution designed to bridge communication gaps, particularly for individuals who face challenges expressing themselves. First Child Care claimed second place with a concept focused on enhancing child safety and monitoring, while Tech Sis finished in third position with a platform aimed at empowering girls through learning, connection, and personal development.
Organizers emphasized that beyond the winning teams, all participants presented impactful and creative ideas, reflecting a bright and promising future for girls in technology.
