Ayuba Gufwan Meets CBM International, Hinges On 6 Pillar Agenda Of NCPWD For PWDs

In order to achieve the full implementation of policies and programs embedded in the 2018 disability Act, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Chief Ayuba Gufwan has mapped out a -6 point agenda that will guide activities of the commission for the next four years.

This was contained in a strategic document presented to the delegation from Christian Blind Mission International (CBM) during a courtesy visit to the Commission recently in Abuja.

The Executive Secretary seized the occasion to appreciate the immense contributions of CBM over the years in assisting the disability community.

He recounted his early experience with the Mission in his formative years while they combed the remote areas of Plateau State, seeking for children with disabilities in order to provide inclusive Education for them .

Gufwan in his presentation, highlighted the pillars to include; Strengthening governance and Institutional structures, Development of a National disability database, Enforcement of physical and digital accessibility, Facilitate access to assistive technology, Support equal access to employment and economic empowerment and Strategic public awareness.

“We will continue to cherish our existing partners and also open our doors to prospective donors” he emphasized.

In his opening remarks, the Country Director, CBM International, Omoi Samuel expressed excitement on the appointment of Chief Ayuba Gufwan as the Executive Secretary of the Commission and promised to work closely with the Commission .

“We recognize your selfless contributions to the community even before your appointment”, he added.

Omoi further pledged the Mission’s interest in providing technical supports to the Commission whenever the need arises.
