The board chairman, Kogi State Office for Disability Affairs (KOSODA), Hon. Ibrahim Daniel Arome has appealed for Infrastructural development and job opportunities for persons with disabilities in Kogi state.
He made the appeal in his new year message to well-meaning Nigerians, leaders and philanthropists.
While felicitating with good people of Nigeria and the rest of the world, the board chairman, thanked God for the privilege to witness yet another year. His new year message reads in part; “Happy New Year, everyone. I thank God for waking us all up and see one of the last digit (2) from the year 2022 which we will never get to have, changed to (3) 2023. There are many souls who were not graced to wake up with us because God’s plan and purpose must prevail. So this can only be God’s grace. May His grace continue to be with us all the time.
“This year, we shall only aim for the best. As long as God is alive, He will help us to achieve as much our desired goals as we had set. Top of our plans for this year and the next is the compliance with the Disability Law both at the state and national levels. The government should consent to it, making inclusion their priorities which when done becomes fair enough to the disability clusters.
“The infrastructural development and job opportunities should always be right in front of the disability individuals whose level of knowledges, abilities and merited certificates could qualify them. Take Lokoja School for the Deaf as instance, the school’s is in bad shape and condition.
“I am appealing for the support of the government of Kogi state to supply resources and renovation of the school which has looked rusty in many parts of the buildings and the condition of the environment has now become a hideout for reptiles and rodents because of the bushiness, posing risks to lives and properties”.
The chairman, however, urged the government of the state to act as fast as possible on the matter as lives and properties are at risk at such point in time.
