Disability Day: YPP Guber Candidate Donates N500,000 To Persons With Disabilities

The Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Alhaji Yakub Olayiwola Gobir, has donated a sum of five hundred thousand naira ( N500,000.00) to persons with disabilities as part of his financial support towards the commemoration of the international day of persons with disabilities.

The event held on Saturday, 3rd December, 2022 was organised by the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Kwara State chapter with support from The Leprosy Mission Nigeria (TLMN).

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the Association, Comrade Bashir Yusuf said persons with disabilities are the most neglected and excluded in moment of need.

“in line with the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to ” leave no one behind” , it is crucial for governments, public and private sectors to collaboratively find innovative solutions for and with disabilities with disabilities to make the world a more accessible and equitable place.”

Yusuf urged the state government and other stakeholders to create an inclusive society for persons with disabilities in the state.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is observed every year on 3 December.

INN reports that the theme for this year is “Transformative Solutions for Inclusive Development: The Role of Innovation in Fueling an Accessible and Equitable World.“
