Deaf Secondary Schools Football Competition: Kano Govt Approves N3m For Ganduje Cup

The Kano State Government has approved a sum of three million naira for the hosting of the 5th Edition of Nigeria Deaf Schools Football Tournament, first Ganduje Cup, a soccer competition for Deaf Secondary School Students in the State.

Chairman of Nigeria Deaf Football Association, Kabiru Umaru, who disclosed this in a statement made available to Inclusive News Network on Sunday said that “The tournament is for all Deaf students in secondary schools in Kano State. Invitation letters will be sent for collection through the Ministry of education”

Umaru says date for commencement of the tournament, match fixtures, and names of participating schools will be communicated soon.

Commenting on the fund released for the competition, Umaru who is also on the Board of Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation, Northwest representative said: “We thank the Kano State Government and the Hon Commissioner for Education, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkare, for the roles played in securing approval for the fund.

“This tournament gives us opportunity to scout out good players from schools. These players then go on to be part of national team. They also stand the chance of participating in the international championship (ECOWAS Deaf Football Tournament) slated for 2022. Umaru assured that more information will be communicated soon.
