Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Lagos State chapter has lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for restoring Disability Empowerment Fund.
Chairman of JONAPWD in Lagos, Dr. Adebukola Adebayo said this in an interactive session with Governor Sanwo-Olu, leaders, members, stakeholders of Disability community in Lagos State.
Adebayo said the association was happy that Gov. Sanwo-Olu responded positively to the letter sent to him by appointing a substantive General Manager for Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA).
He praised the governor for making out time to meet with Lagosians with disabilities for the purpose of hearing directly from them and responding promptly to their requests.
“i convey our warmest appreciation to His Excellency, Mr. Governor for responding positively to our letter: first by appointing a substantive General Manager for lasoda, and now, for making out time to meet with lagosians with disabilities for the purpose of hearing directly from them and responding promptly to their requests.
“We also happy that H.E has graciously restored the Disability Empowerment Fund as we requested in our letter to him in November 2020,.
“JONAPWD-Lagos reiterates its commitment to continue to partner with the government, the private sector, development partners, civil society groups, the media and other stakeholders.
“JONAPWD-Lagos and the entire disability community enjoins Mr. Governor to sustain this Forum with disabled lagosians on annual basis and do more to ensure that disability-inclusion is achieved across all critical sectors in lagos state,” Dr. Adebayo said.
