NEMA begins distribution of food to 35,505 IDPs in Borno

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has started distributing food rations regularly to 35,505 internally displaced people in Borno.

The NEMA coordinator at the northeast area office, Wagami Lydia-Madu, said the beneficiaries were internally displaced people in host communities and released from the villages of Benishiekh, Mainok and Jakana of Kaga local government areas in Borno.

She explained that each household would receive rice, beans, corn, vegetable oil, salt, tomato paste and seasonings.

“This follows an approval granted by the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Habib. as part of the federal government’s efforts to help the Borno State government ensure the welfare of the victims of the insurgency, ”said Lydia-Madu.

She said NEMA is also supporting and working with the Borno government through the National Emergency Management Agency to bring displaced people back to their communities in a dignified manner.
