by Inclusive News Network

Osita Izunaso, Founder, Kpakpando Foundation, has commended Nigerian paralympians for their feat at the recently concluded Paralympics Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Izunaso, in his commendation, said that the physically challenged athletes remained the nation’s greatest source of pride and hope.

He said these athletes had excelled with their resounding victories and laurels in continental and global competitions more than their abled counterparts.

Izunaso noted that Nigeria at the main Olympics only won two medals, a silver and Bronze, placing 74th and best 8th among 54 African nations.

The paralympics team, on the other hand, did the country proud with 10 medals (Four Gold, One Silver and Four Bronze), placing 33rd in the world and fourth in Africa.

“By your perseverance and thoroughness to win, you have proven that indeed success can be superbly attained regardless of any disability.

“You have been recognised as sports icons worldwide and have kept the country’s flag raised and we join the rest of the world in your joy.

“Kpakpando Foundation is proud of you all,” Izunaso said.

He also congratulated Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, for his support and steadfastness in sports development in the country.

Izunaso urged the minister to ensure that the Olympic medalists and other members of the paralympics were adequately rewarded, while necessary sports facilities were provided for assured future winning streak for the nation.
