The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Hallelujah Soul Winners Church, Province 32 headquarter Deaf members have called for separate churches for the deaf.
The coordinator of the church, Adepoju Micheal, said this in an interview with Inclusive News Network, INN on Sunday 29, November to mark the 8th anniversary celebration of Hallelujah church.
Micheal, while appreciating God for the Deaf members of the Province headquarter church and counting their blessings, said “Since I came to this church in 2018, I’ve seen much progress. During this time, a deaf person got a post in the church workforce. He went for workers training and received certificate, now he wants to join the ushering department to improve himself.”
“As coordinator for the deaf, I’ve been blessed in different ways. Deaf Community are interesting people. If you want to be part of their community, you have to learn their language. I have experienced much development as a person, and working in this church has helped me develop my signing skill.
“Deaf need your encouragement, they need someone to motivate them. If they have no one to motivate them, they will be discouraged.
“One of our goals as members of the church is to bring more souls to heaven. That’s why I encourage all RCCG churches all over Nigeria to have deaf churches, to bring more of them into the kingdom of God as well as train more special workforce to win them.
“Many of them are out there doing nothing, however when pastors and workers in all RCCG churches request and learn sign language, they will be able to reach them more effectively.
“You don’t only preach to hearing people, you are to preach to deaf members too since they are also human beings.
“If you don’t learn sign language, how will you save their souls into the kingdom of God?”, He queried.
Samuel Erik, President of Hallelujah Deaf Church, RCCG province 32, thanked God for keeping the group together for the past 8 years, adding that both the old and new members are enjoying the anniversary.
He added “Hallelujah Deaf church was established in 2012 with few members, within 8 years we have grown to over 200 members. This is as a result of evangelism from time to time to encourage more deaf people to join us.”
“We have met with the head pastor of the church to see how we can help the deaf members with some kind of vocational training, jobs and business support. By the grace of God, I hope the head pastor will meet with the General Overseer, Pa Enoch Adeboye to see how he can help us.” He said.
