The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of the National Youth Day as show of commitment to empowering the Nigerian youths.
Buhari had on September 2nd approved November 1 every year to commemorate the National Youth Day.
Earlier, the president had also approved the establishment of a N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) for three years.
The President of the NYC, Blessing Akinlosotu, who spoke in Abuja Friday night, said the president’s action had further shown his genuine concern to celebrate all hardworking youths who have shown commitment to nation building and are positive of the growth of the nation.
Akinlosotu, who lauded Buhari for his love for the youths, said he had clearly shown to the Nigerian youths that his campaign promises for the youths of the country were not mere promises.
Rather, he said, his campaign promises were well thought ideologies to empower youths and give them a sense of belonging in the country.
He stated that Buhari’s approval of National Youth Day to celebrate youths, has shown that youths are worthy of leadership positions.
Akinlosotu said the development was a sign for greater things to come in the lives of the Nigerian youths, saying that the president’s approval had created a channel for youths to be celebrated.
He said: “We in the Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, sincerely appreciate our amiable President for his genuine concern for youths and pray that God continually lifts his government higher and grant him grace to rise above the challenges confronting our nation today.
“The honourable minister also can’t be thanked enough, he is a leader that leads with a clear vision of what he wants to achieve and aggressively goes after it and returns with an overwhelming result.”
