593 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a new report released on twitter on Wednesday, 19 August, 2020.
The new report took Nigeria’s daily tolls beyond the 50,000 mark and is currently 50,488.
Plateau State led with 186 new cases for the first time since the breakout of the pandemic. Following closely was Lagos with 172 cases and the FCT with 62 cases.
The figures mean that about 16 states were registered in the new report.
Other States following the three top States with the highest cases are Oyo-27 Delta-25 Rivers-20 Ondo-19 Edo-18 Kaduna-17 Enugu-12 Akwa Ibom-10 Ogun-7 Abia-6 Gombe-6 Kano-3 Osun-3.
The total number of persons discharged from the isolation centres across the country is 37,304 and the total deaths now 985.
