Abuja Association Of The Deaf Youth leader empowered FCT Youths with Disabilities during the Abuja Association of the Deaf End of Year party on Saturday, December 7, 2019
The Youth leader led by Ebuka Okeke who is also aspiring for the post of youth leader at the national level in 2020 had empowered Deaf youths in Abuja with sports equipments. The sport equipment include; a pack of football kits for training, a pack of football kits and socks for competition, two balls, some cups for training.
“This year’s celebration was special because I, as the leader of the youth wing in my own little contribution empowered the youths of FCT with sporting equipment” Ebuka said.
Apart from the sports equipments distributed to the Deaf group, he also gave a sum of ₦15,000 to a Deaf producer to help boost his business.
“One of our youths was also empowered with the sum of Fifteen thousand (15,000) Naira to boost his bags and shoes production business.”
“The award became necessary because the said youth showed commitment towards his trade and this earned him the award. We hope to do more next time.”
This historic event which is first of its kind was witnessed by the presence of prominent members of the Deaf community in FCT in persons of Abuja Association of the Deaf, Chairman Mr Ephraim Omoregie, Mr Lawrence Idemudia, NNAD National vice president, Mohammed Adelani, Deaf women Association of Nigeria founder and CEO, Adedoyin Beyioku-Alase (Mama Deaf), Mr Muyiwa Afolayan, Mallam A. Ujah, Chief Sofia (Kabiru Ross) and Barr. Catherine Edeh, the founder and CEO of VDI who is one of those that supported the youth wing with the sum of twenty thousand (20,000) naira.Â
Meanwhile, Abuja Association of the Deaf celebrated end of year get together on Saturday, December 7.
