Association of Persons with Disabilities Badagry chapter has charged Badagry Local Government, Olorunda and Badagry West Local Council Development Areas and the General Hospital to establish disability desk for persons with disabilities in Badagry.
The group said this while commemorating the International day of persons with disabilities.
INN reports that the theme of this year is “United in Action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities“.
Chairman of the Association, Mr Sejoro Ekundayo said establishing a disability desk will give priority to the welfare and needs of persons with disabilities in Badagry.
“The Disability Desk officer will be in charge of matters concerning disability.”
“We are using this opportunity to call on the chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Adeniran Olusegun Onilude to implement local government disability policy framework launched by Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Lagos chapter on October 18, 2023 by establishing a disability desk for persons with disabilities in Badagry local government secretariat to effectively address the needs and rights of persons with disabilities in Badagry and appoint a Senior Special Assistant and Special Assistant to Badagry local government chairman on disability matters.” He said
