The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded activity titled, ‘State Accountability, Transparency, and Effectiveness (State2State)’ has commenced a 3-day Disability Inclusion Awareness Training in Bauchi State, with critical stakeholders as participants.
In her welcoming address, Rabi Ekele, who led the team to Bauchi, explained that the training was to develop the knowledge and skills of the participants for project initiatives to effectively address the needs, priorities, and rights of people with disabilities across Bauchi state.
Ekele also said that State2State activity is committed to ensuring social inclusion in all its areas of focus that cut across basic education, primary health care and WASH for the betterment of the society.
“We are very excited to have this array of participants joining us for this awareness training and I hope it would add value to your respective organizations with a view to imbibing social inclusion culture in organisational structures and implementation of your programs and activities”, said Ekele.
Also speaking, the gender and social inclusion specialist of State2State Bauchi field office, Hassana Lawal Bello, informed the participants that the training will focus on the concept of disability and inclusion legal frameworks at both national and international levels.
Bello added that key topics around Impairment, barriers, disabilities approaches and other related topics relevant to training would be discussed. According to Bello, participants would also be train on convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act of 2018.
