Lagos State on Wednesday recorded 74 new coronavirus cases, highest to be reported in any Nigerian state within 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 504, The PUNCH reports
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed this via its Twitter handle.
The NCDC, which said the total number of infections in Nigeria has risen to 873, noted that Lagos has the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
According to data obtained from the centre’s website, no fewer than 106 patients have recovered and discharged in the state.
INN learn that the state has no fewer than 383 active cases.
The NCDC said, “On the 22nd of April 2020, 91 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 873 cases have been confirmed, 197 cases have been discharged and 28 deaths have been recorded in Nigeria.
“The 91 new cases are reported from nine states- Lagos (74), Katsina (five), Ogun (four), Edo (two), Delta (two), FCT (one), Adamawa (one), Kwara (one), Oyo (one).
“Breakdown of cases by state: Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17, Kwara-10, Kaduna- nine, Akwa Ibom- nine, Borno- nine, Bauchi- eight, Delta- six, Gombe- five, Ekiti- four, Ondo- three, Rivers- three, Jigawa- two, Enugu-two, Niger- two, Abia- two, Benue- one, Anambra- one, Sokoto- one and Adamawa- one.”
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Ministry of Health said 16 deaths have been recorded from coronavirus-related complications in the state.
It tweeted on Tuesday, “Two COVID-19 deaths were however recorded, bringing the total number of #COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos to 16.”
