The United States Government (USG) Alumni Association, Gombe State Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (GSCPWD) to celebrate and congratulate its Executive Chairman, Ishiyaku Adamu, a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow from Indiana University, USA.
The visit, held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, was led by the State Coordinator, Dr. Yunana Ahmad, who commended Ishiyaku’s exemplary leadership, commitment, and consistent contributions to the growth of the alumni network in Gombe State. He described the Commission’s Chairman as “a true ambassador of positive change” whose work continues to inspire others.
Dr. Yunana highlighted some of the association’s recent interventions, including inclusive education projects across several Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. He also expressed the group’s readiness to partner with the Commission in exploring funding opportunities and advancing disability inclusion and empowerment.
In his response, Ishiyaku Adamu thanked the visiting alumni for their solidarity and support. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the alumni association in key areas such as inclusive education and youth mentorship, with the goal of helping more young persons with disabilities access U.S. Government opportunities in education, leadership, and capacity development.
The visit reinforced the shared commitment of both bodies to promoting inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities across Gombe State and beyond.
