The Chairperson of the Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Mary James Gaisa, has called on employers across Taraba State to embrace inclusive hiring by offering employment opportunities to persons with spinal cord injuries.

In a press release issued on March 3, 2026, Gaisa appealed to the Head of Taraba State Civil Service, the 16 Local Government Chairmen, and employers in both the public and private sectors to create disability-friendly work environments that enable persons with spinal cord injuries to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

She emphasized that people with disabilities should not be defined by their medical conditions, noting that they possess valuable skills, talents, and resilience that can add value to organizations. According to her, inclusive employment not only promotes social justice but also provides employers with committed and capable professionals.

Gaisa urged stakeholders to take deliberate steps toward removing barriers in workplaces and fostering equal opportunities, stressing that collective action is needed to build a more inclusive and economically vibrant Taraba State.
