Skill Acquisition Training Empowers Persons with Disabilities in Jama’are, Bauchi State

Jama’are, Bauchi State | October 17, 2025 —

In a renewed effort to promote economic inclusion and reduce street begging among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), a three-day skill acquisition training has been successfully held in Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The programme, jointly organized by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) and the Jama’are Citizens Concerned Forum, brought together 29 participants from across the eleven wards of the local government.

During the training, participants were equipped with practical skills in car wash detergent production, cap net weaving, and soap making, aimed at fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Dahiru Abubakar, CITAD’s Programme Officer in Jama’are, noted that the initiative forms part of CITAD’s broader strategy to address the socio-economic challenges faced by persons with disabilities.

Representing CITAD’s Executive Director, Engr. Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, Malam Haruna Adamu Hadejia reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting the development of PWDs across Nigeria.

Also speaking, Ahmad Abdullahi Sintali, Vice Chairman of the Jama’are Citizens Concerned Forum, expressed appreciation to CITAD for its consistent partnership and pledged the Forum’s continued collaboration to uplift vulnerable groups in the community.

In his goodwill message, Hamza Aminu Fagge, CITAD’s PWDs Coordinator, encouraged participants to take advantage of digital tools—especially social media—to promote their businesses and reach wider markets. He also disclosed that similar training programmes would soon be extended to other parts of Bauchi State and beyond.

The skill acquisition programme represents a significant milestone in advancing inclusive development and empowering persons with disabilities to achieve economic independence in Jama’are.
