Salisiyya Leader Pledges Advocacy for Deaf S’Eagles, Calls for Disability Inclusion

Leader of the Salisiyya Movement, Honourable Salisu Sabo, has called on the Federal Government to give greater attention to the welfare and development of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

Hon. Sabo made the appeal in Abuja on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, during a visit to the Deaf Super Eagles, who recently clinched the West African Deaf Football Championship for a record sixth time.

Coinciding with his birthday, the visit turned into a double celebration as Sabo joined the victorious team in their camp. As part of his goodwill gesture, he donated cartons of soft drinks and bottled water to the players, who in turn sang a birthday song for him in appreciation.

In his remarks, Head Coach of the Deaf Super Eagles, Kamiludeen Banjo, expressed gratitude to Hon. Sabo for honouring the team with his presence and support. He also highlighted some of the challenges facing the team, seeking the lawmaker’s assistance in addressing them.

Responding, Sabo—who also serves as leader of the 2027 Forward Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation—commended the players for bringing glory to Nigeria through their outstanding performance. He pledged to take their concerns to the National Sports Commission and ensure they are given due attention.

“You have proven yourselves as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria by lifting the WADSU trophy for the sixth time,” he said. “There is no better way for me to celebrate my birthday than with you, our champions. I urge you to stay focused and not be discouraged. In my capacity as leader of the Salisiyya Movement, I will ensure your message reaches President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the National Sports Commission. Your labour will never be in vain.”
