The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has entered into a strategic partnership with the International Christian Organization for Sustainable Development (ICOSD) to strengthen support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the elderly, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups across Nigeria. The collaboration was formalised during a meeting between Isa’s team and an ICOSD delegation led by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Joseph Aunde Vambe.
A major component of the partnership is the forthcoming public launch of Dr. Vambe’s 700-page book, THE NEW NIGERIA — COMPLIMENT TO THE GAME CHANGER, produced in collaboration with the Akume for Tinubu Support Group 2027. The publication highlights President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms and leadership direction, with emphasis on the Renewed Hope Agenda, economic transformation and the target of achieving a trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
Proceeds from the book launch and sales will be channelled into empowerment programmes for PWDs, women, youths, senior citizens and IDPs. The interventions will focus on agriculture for food security, digital skills, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship, education, creative industries and community development initiatives. These programmes are expected to reach all 8,809 wards across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, aligning with key Sustainable Development Goals, including poverty reduction, quality education, gender equality and reduced inequalities.
Dr. Vambe commended the Tinubu administration’s grassroots-focused reforms, describing local government autonomy as a historic milestone and noting that the removal of fuel subsidy has reportedly reduced corruption significantly. In his remarks, Hon. Isa applauded the initiative as a patriotic, private-sector-driven effort, stressing its importance in promoting public awareness, correcting misinformation and strengthening civic education. He added that the partnership would also contribute to national cohesion by encouraging truthful narratives capable of reducing social and security tensions.
The meeting ended with an agreement to set up a joint Technical Working Committee to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the empowerment initiatives.
