Abuja, Nigeria — In furtherance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunity, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities (OSSAPSNEO) has announced the launch of a transformative national programme titled “Discovering Ability in Disability” (DADI).
The initiative aims to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Nigeria by identifying their talents, developing their skills, and creating sustainable pathways for self-reliance and economic participation.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, the DADI programme builds upon the success of the Beyond Disability Project and represents a major step forward in inclusive governance and social investment.
“Through this initiative, our office will create 36,550 empowerment opportunities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” Isa said. “Every Nigerian with a disability deserves access to skill development, mentorship, and economic inclusion.”
Under the programme, participants will be trained and supported in diverse sectors ranging from arts and crafts, digital entrepreneurship, and music and performing arts, to vocational and technical trades such as tailoring, carpentry, and shoemaking, as well as business and entrepreneurship development — all aimed at transforming creativity and skill into sustainable enterprise.
The official launch of the Discovering Ability in Disability initiative is scheduled for November 14, 2025, in Kaduna State, where a number of trained PWDs who have completed mentorship and capacity-building programmes will showcase their talents and innovations.
Following the Kaduna event, the programme will be scaled nationwide to institutionalize continuous training, empowerment, and mentorship across all states.
Isa reaffirmed the office’s dedication to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is left behind.
“At OSSAPSNEO, we believe disability does not define weakness — it reveals potential,” Isa stated.
