Mohammed Abba Isa, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, has commended the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for waiving application and examination fees for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Isa described the decision as a bold, inclusive, and transformative step that removes financial barriers and expands access to higher education for Nigerians with disabilities. According to him, the initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to equity and ensures that disability does not hinder educational aspirations.
He noted that the policy aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises inclusiveness, fairness, and equal opportunities for all citizens, particularly vulnerable groups.
Isa stressed that the gesture sends a powerful message that the government is determined to uplift and empower Persons with Disabilities through deliberate and supportive policies.
The presidential aide further lauded Professor Oloyede and the JAMB management for their leadership, vision, and empathy, reaffirming that the Tinubu administration will continue to support programmes and initiatives that promote accessibility, dignity, and equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities across the country.
